Feeling Alive Again
I’m two weeks out from my heart-attack. I already (as a meditator, a migraine headache survivor and guy who sits around and thinks too much) had a heightened awareness of my body. But a heart attack gets your attention and won’t let go easily. So up until yesterday, when I had more tests and clear results,I was waking up every night concerned over some new flutter in my chest or tingle in my hands. They tell me it’s natural. Still no fun.
They also said that I would soon be feeling better than ever. It’s a beautiful day today, took a long walk, sat and talked on the back porch with a close friend and ate lunch outside. I’m starting to see “better than ever” in the near future, but I’m not greedy. “As good as ever” is enough.
Anyway here’s this one. I wrote this, a few years after that picture of Mathieu in NY, with Michael Lunn, one of my all time favorite co-writers. We always had a great time. It was an old-school style co-write, I wrote the lyric, Michael wrote the music. His music always made inspiration easy. I don’t remember who is playing on the demo. A bunch of great players…as always (it’s Nashville), probably recorded at County Q studios in Nashville, where I did a LOT of work. That’s me singing. I love the way the bass player puts the song in another gear at the end of the first chorus.
Here’s looking forward to the good new days.
